Welcome!
We are people with and without
intellectual disabilities, sharing life
in a community of belonging.
L’Arche Calgary has 5 homes, a Supported Independent Living Program, and the Tamarack Day Program. L'Arche Calgary's Core Members are people with intellectual disabilities who share life with Assistants who come to us from around the world.
L'Arche is a way of life, but it's also a model of care that is unique. In our community, people with intellectual disabilities are at the heart of L'Arche. They're not clients, patients, or recipients of services - instead, they are friends, teachers, and companions.
People with intellectual disabilities grow through their encounters in L'Arche. Through daily acts of care, trust, and friendship, they develop into ambassadors of compassion and leaders for social change. Through mutual relationships with our core members, our Assistants, personnel, and volunteers grow as well.
Today, L'Arche International has 156 communities in 38 countries on 5 continents. L'Arche Calgary is 1 of 29 L'Arche communities in Canada.
